Stanislav Dukhin Medal | 2026

Nataliya Mishchuk

We are pleased to share that Nataliya Mishchuk (Sukhorska) is the winner of the IES 2026 Stanislav Dukhin Medal Lifetime Achievement Award in Electrokinetics.

Dr. Nataliya's award citation reads: “for theories of transient and nonlinear electrokinetics in colloids and membranes, stemming from the discovery of electrophoresis of the second kind”.

Dr. Nataliya will present the Dukhin lectures at the next ELKIN - International Symposium on Electrokinetics meeting in The Hague, Netherlands, June 23-25, 2026.

Congratulations, Dr. Nataliya.

Brief bio: Nataliya Mishchuk (Sukhorska) is a professor in the field of colloid and membrane chemistry and Head of the Department of Electrochemistry and Adsorption on Mineral Sorbents at the A.V. Dumansky Institute of Colloid and Water Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

She graduated from the Faculty of Physics of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a specialization in theoretical physics. She received PhD degree at the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the field of magnetic exciton theory and Doctor of Sciences degree at the A.V. Dumansky Institute of Colloid and Water Chemistry for research in the theory of concentration polarisation of interface and nonlinear electrokinetic phenomena, including, in particular, the theory and experimental verification of electrokinetic phenomena of the second kind.

Her scientific achievements include developing the original analytical theory of interparticle interactions in dispersions with arbitrary particle surface potential and concentration; explaining the mechanism and developing the theory of hydrophobic interaction; proposing the pulsed electrodialysis mode for process intensification and for controlling ion transfer numbers through membranes; establishing the theoretical basis for microflotation of submicron particles; and applying nonlinear electroosmosis in microfluidics.

For many years, she actively collaborated with researchers from Wageningen University & Research, University of Granada, University of Bergen, Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces, Aix-Marseille University, etc. Since 1999, she has held the position of Adjunct Research Professor at the University of South Australia.
